I've been waiting for this day, and it has almost come to a close, it being 9.30pm and BLACKPINK has officially released two MVs and their debut single album:
SQUARE ONE
I was able to tune in to their live showcase at 3pm KST (2pm for me), was a little late but I managed to watch their BOOMBAYAH MV, their introductions and some BTS clips of their MV making.
After the showcase it was all about the hashtag trend event happening on Twitter #ThisIsBLACKPINKArea
Never in my life have I ever tweeted, retweeted and quoted tweets as much as I did today and it was exciting!
Loved to see how BLACKPINK was receiving so much love on their DDAY~
A lot of kpop fans find BLACKPINK to have similarities with 2NE1 but that is a good thing and definitely not something that YG denies.

YG’s Yang Hyun Suk shared his thoughts about BLACKPINK and 2NE1. “We didn’t try too hard to create a difference between BLACKPINK and 2NE1. It was the same when we created 2NE1. YG has its own unique sound so we focused on making the music sound the most like us,” he explained.Sources: 1 | 2 | 3
In regards to the delay in the group’s debut, he replied, “If you saw BLACKPINK four years ago, you would still say that they were really good. But in the end, team harmony is the most important. I think right now BIGBANG members have a great team harmony. When we first started BLACKPINK, there were a lot of members involved. Some members left, while others remained as trainees. As I thought over it a lot, I decided on these specific members.”
He continued to say, “There is no leader. They have been friends for so long that having a leader is impossible. All four members can be leaders.
Some say that not having a leader would be a great downfall for them in the near future. It is true that having a leader would mean a better steer when it comes to major circumstances but I believe that our four ladies in BLACKPINK will each take charge and make the necessary decisions in order for them to succeed their career goals, compromising with their strong friendship and expectations from the fans. Besides, they seem to be leaders in everything they do XD
