The Box of Memories

Ah it's been awhile since I read the blog post above... It's always so nice to read about things that tug at your heartstrings...
Quote: "...if any of you who have something that you cherish dearly..."
I can't describe how much of a struggle it is for me to put my own thoughts into words. Just sitting here and staring at the screen is already giving me a hard time.
I've had this box ever since primary. Not sure how I got it, but a branded LARRIE box at the age of 9 just seemed exquisite. What's so special about this box? It's just strategically attached pieces of cardboard! Mind you, this cardboard box is memory storage.
I'm forgetful. The happier I get, the more things become vague, and my mind takes it as not requiring to remember them fully.
Though remembering every detail is never going to be perfect, just being able to replay most of a memorable day isn't so bad of a deal, the only effort I would have to put in is preserving a piece of the event. Christmas cards, letters, bookmarks [yes bookmarks >.>], photographs, key chains, competition entry numbers, name tags, tickets, custom drawings, my first journal, even my learner's driver's license...
People find it ridiculous, keeping temporary things, ones that don't last long [compared to a piano] items that don't look anything worth treasuring... Trash... [Mom called it hoarding! XD] And to people who never give a second thought about things in the past 'why hold on to the things that already happened?'
If you were to have thrown this entire box into the fire, I'd bleed, I'd scar, I'd lose part of myself. For a person who can't recall, these are the little things that would make up for the missing pieces, to bridge myself to the back of my mind. I can't say that I don't walk past uglier recollections when I visit the fields of nostalgia, but pain and sweetness coincide...
Whether it be a piano you've grown up with, a box full of paper memories, we all have something we cherish... So, what is yours?
Song of the day:
WINNER - 센치해(SENTIMENTAL) M/V
